Since 1996, Disability Resource Center (DRC) has been meeting the needs of the disability community as a resource and empowerment center for persons with disabilities in Northeast Georgia. As a private, non-profit, non-residential Center for Independent Living (CIL), DRC is committed to providing an array of services assisting individuals with disabilities to live independently, pursue meaningful goals, and have the same opportunities and choices as all people.

As a non-profit 501(c)(3), we operate with a consumer-driven board of directors and a staff where over 51 percent are persons with significant disabilities providing our core services.

A Center of Resources

DRC is a private, nonprofit organization designed to increase independence, access, and equal rights for everyone through the empowerment of people with disabilities. We are a part of a national network of over 400 Centers for Independent Living (CILs) in the United States created to assist and empower persons with disabilities. There are multiple CILs in each state, serving specific coverage areas. DRC serves thirteen Northeast Georgia counties and their residents.

Our Mission

We believe all persons, including those with disabilities, have the right to live as part of their community. At DRC, we provide persons with disabilities the resources and assistance to live independently in their communities. We also work to remove architectural and attitudinal barriers in society limiting active involvement in the community.

Core Services

Like CILs across the country, Disability Resource Center offers five Core Services to our consumers across our coverage area. These services are invaluable resources and assistance to the disability community. Our Core Services include:

We are able to provide these services, information and resources through a variety of federal, state and community partners. In addition, we are supported by numerous private businesses, foundations and volunteers.
