Assistive Technology &
Durable Medical Equipment

A man sitting in his wheelchair is pointing at a computer screen on his desk. He appears to be speaking into the headset positioned on his ear.Having the right tools and equipment can make all the difference when it comes to achieving and maintaining your independence. These tools, called Assistive Technology, often become an extension of the consumer and are invaluable in everyday life. That is why we offer two valuable resources for assistive technology – the REUSE Equipment Program and our HubScrub Equipment Cleaning Program.

What exactly is assistive technology?

In today’s world, “technology” is often associated with computer related or electronically powered items. However, assistive technology (AT) is technically defined as any item or piece of equipment that is used to increase, maintain or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.

AT can be classified into three categories and range from magnifiers and canes to manual wheelchairs and alternative keyboards to digital devices.

REUSE Equipment Program

We offer durable medical equipment through our REUSE Program. Equipment includes: manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, potty chairs and more. Some devices do require a doctor’s prescription.

We do accept donations (monetary and equipment) and can provide a donation letter for tax purposes. If you have unwanted durable medical equipment you would like to donate, please let us know either through the Contact Us page or by calling us at 706-778-5355. All monetary contributions go towards maintain and fixing the equipment we offer through our REUSE Program.
