Active participation in your community is something every person with a disability has the right to do. Unfortunately, lack of accessible transportation and housing can prevent active involvement. Through our various partnerships, we have compiled information about transportation and housing options.
Transportation Resources
Lack of transportation can prevent a person with a disability from participating in the community. No one should be removed from friends, family, employment, education or healthcare. Fortunately, most counties offer accessible public transportation.
This downloadable list highlights public transportation, medical transport, and taxi companies in Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, and Union Counties. The contact information, service area, operation hours and fares are listed.
Transportation Resources 2013-2014
For Hall County, iTNLanier provides a community-based, community-supported, economically viable and consumer-oriented, quality transportation service for seniors and adults with visual impairment. You can find out more at http://itnlanier.org/
Housing Resources
While DRC is a non-residential center, we work with organizations and businesses to assist you in finding accessible housing. We have compiled a housing list for residential locations providing income based, low income, elderly and accessible apartments. We can also assist you with your search for accessible housing options via an appoint with one of our Independent Living Advocates.
